I accidentally came across this Sci-Fi novel while researching a Presbyterian church on Yahoo! It was available back then on the ‘Book Collectors Paradise’ website. Being a Sci-Fi fan of long-standing I was tempted to take a look. However, at the time there was only one review on Amazon so I was in two minds as to whether or not I should bother. Then I said to myself "Why not?" and I have to say I was more than pleasantly surprised! The author's subject matter includes well-established Sci-Fi themes such as Grey Aliens, Men In Black, Flying Saucers and Earth Defence Organisations but these are interwoven into unusual gothic themes and fantasy creatures. As the plot progresses the writing becomes ever more imaginative and the final Chapter ends with a great cliff-hanger leaving you salivating for Volume Two!. The 'about the author' page indicates this will be released mid-way through 2022 and I can't wait to finish this quirky and interesting masterpiece!
I took advantage of the December 2021 free promotion having been recommended this novel by a friend on 'Inkitt' before it was removed from that forum without warning! The author has a propensity in the early chapters of describing various characters using alternate names/descriptions so you need to be ahead of the game to keep up with whose who. I think this is just the style of Mr. Chiles and takes nothing away from his natural writing ability. Besides, once I had established that 'Jeff Rickenbacker', 'The Spy' and 'The Restorer' were all the same person, the problem was more or less solved. I love the way the Nazi Dictatorship is explained by Alien Infiltration and a human virus being the main weapon of the extra-terrestrials seems very topical at the moment. The storyline is a great alternative history of planet earth and almost believable and I am looking forward to volume 2 to find out if the five main characters manage to save the world!
This action-packed novel had me gripped from the very first moment. You feel on tenterhooks for the next surprise development as the story progresses and by Chapter Ten I was finding it hard to put down! The characters are well-defined and the plot is interesting. There is an imaginitive slant on the Second World War which develops well into the present and I am excited about reading Volume Two to find out how the story ends!
"The Greystone Legacy" is wonderfully contrived and written in a natural style that’s easy to read. It’s a story filled with grey aliens, World War 2 Germans, spies over 100 years old, a detective and many more interesting characters. It is reminiscent of TheMenInBlack movies of today but in my opinion written in a style that is far more believable. Great read
